A couple of years ago, I chanced upon a sponsored ad from Skin Station on my Facebook feed that offered 8 sessions of their Diode Laser Hair Removal for five thousand pesos. I had no idea what Diode Laser Hair Removal was, but I was definitely intrigued. I’ve always been a lazy girl and underarm grooming had always been a pain to consider when planning trips, especially the beach ones.
Being the (older) millennial that I was, of course I immediately jumped online to look for reviews for efficacy. After all, five thousand pesos was an amount that I couldn’t comfortably spend on something that I didn’t know anything about. Metrodeal was also still a thing back then and sketchy IPL promos were very much abundant. I’ve read more than one review for IPL treatment bundles that didn’t work.
While I did manage to find a few of blogs who chronicled their sessions with Skin Station Diode Laser Hair Removal, none of them wrote about their experiences with the full eight sessions. While they were very informative in terms of how the procedure was done and what sort of stuff to expect, most of them stopped writing about it after their third or fourth appointments.
Despite the lack of complete reviews, I decided to avail the promo. I reckoned that it was a relatively safe gamble since Skin Station was one of the bigger brands in terms of beauty treatments and the people who posted their experiences seemed to have been off to good starts. Luckily there was a branch in Festival Mall Alabang so I dropped by the Saturday before the promo period ended.
I had the first session 18th September 2015 and just had my eighth last 4th November 2017. After finishing the whole eight sessions, I now feel comfortable enough to write about the experience. Skin Station comes out with that particular promo about three or four times a year and I imagine that people who’re interested in availing it have the same questions I did back then.
Here’s the run down of questions that I had:
So does it work? Hell yes. It definitely works. While it didn’t completely eliminate the hair growth in my pits, the treatments have significantly thinned down the hair growing in there and slowed it down enough that I only need to go back for ‘booster’ treatments after about a full year.
Booster treatments? What? See, the whole treatment works like this: your first few treatments have to happen about three to six weeks in between and once the desired outcome of slowed hair growth has been achieved, you only need to come back on a “as needed” basis for booster treatments. I believe that this all depends on how your hair grows, but here’re the dates when I claimed my eight vouchers.

As you can see, the first three sessions happened strictly three to five weeks in between of each other. After the first and second sessions, my armpit hair grew back just like normal so I had to keep coming back to get my armpits shaved and get the treatment. It wasn’t until after the third and fourth sessions that the hair growth slowed down enough that the attendant actually advised me to come back only when I have enough hair in there that bothered me. That was actually nice advice, since it meant that they weren’t in it just for the money. Sessions after the fifth one were at least a five months in between and I think I’ve reached the point that I only need to go back after a full year.
They recently released another round of promos and I availed of another package (this time 9 sessions for five thousand pesos) since the vouchers don’t expire and I can use these 9 sessions for my yearly booster treatments.
How much are the sessions if not on a promo? They’re 1,500php per session so the promo does really come in handy.
Does it hurt? Not really. They’ll apply this cold gel to protect you from the heat and for some reason it feels like tiny pin pricks that are more annoying than painful. I guess that’s the hair follicle dying? I’m not really sure, but here’s the link for their Diode Laser Guide.
How long do the sessions last? They say on the website that the sessions run for thirty minutes but all of my previous ones were no more than twenty minutes each. That’s about ten minutes per armpit and that includes the shaving of the hair already.
Are there any instructions that you have to follow before each session? Yes, there are a few things that you have to prep for before going in. I lifted this from the Skin Station Facebook page:
- Do not shave area to be treated 2 weeks or at least three (3) to five (5) days before your appointment.
• Do not pluck, wax or use a depilatory in the areas you wish to treat four (4) weeks prior to your treatment.
• Avoid any unnecessary UV exposure to the areas to be treated four (4) weeks prior to treatment.
• Avoid self-tanning products four (4) weeks prior to treatment.
• Do not apply Retinol/ Retinoic acid-containing creams/lotions one (1) week before your Diode laser treatment.
• Stop application of NanoWhite Intensive underarm cream one (1) week before your Diode laser treatment.
• No peeling agents or diamond peel one (1) week before the procedure

How long it takes for a laser to finish? In my experience, natapos ba nmn ng 15mins.. I’ll just consume all the package I’ve paid. But I will never avail again any services from Skin station… It’s not effective.

I had my first session on August 19, 2020. Considering that I am a hairy/balbon girl, 1 session made my underarm hair-free for 3 months. Whether diode laser will remove hairs permanently or not, I think it is still “sulit” because with waxing, hair pops up after just 2 weeks.

And another thing, I recently read review online (I really don t know why this pops out to my searches just recently and not at the time I am searching for an authentic review about laser hair removal) and one suggest that underarm diode laser hair removal is effective on her, by the way, she finishes 8 sessions so I really can t compare that with the session I avail. One interesting comment from her reader that stands out is that she suggests pressing the machine hard on the skin so that the laser will be more effective.

I also had mine at Skin centre Ortigas and yes it was around 50k for 10 sessions last 2013 and 50% off din so 25k nalang, it was effective, almost no hair growth for me after 5 sessions however I lost to follow up and hair grew very minimally upto now again. Planning to do my boosters at Skin station nalang din. hahaha

Got my 1st session last Jan 27, 2018 and my next session will be on March 7 by the way I availed the promo 4 sessions for 2,500 pesos.. . after my 1st session they made me buy the Inflammatory cream( php220), Axilight Serum (php975) and Vitamin C powder (php999) All I can say is nagustuhan ko talaga yung Diode laser treatment nila kahit first session palang ang tagal na ng tubo ng hair ko, yung Infladerm no need to purchase if your armpit is not sensitive but I still purchased it kasi ginagamit daw yun after the treament just incase nangati and sa Axilight Serum and Vitamin C powder it helped lightened my armpits kasi medyo maitim yung armpits ko kakagamit ng Hot Wax and they advised me to used Deodorant na natural (I used DeoNat as my deodorant) lang walang Aluminum sa ingredients. For sure I will purchase another 4 sessions to make it 8 sessions. WORTH IT SOBRA! 🙂

I already had 3 sessions done on my armpits, hair growth isnt as much (barely a millimeter) but what i wanted to ask is after how many sessions did you become hairless? Im not allowed to shave pluck wax in between sessions and although there is little hair, its visible enough that i cant go around wearing sleeveless tops pa. Also, after every session they keep suggesting us to buy products which were very expensive. After the antiinflammatory cream (which im okay with), they suggest i buy the whitening cream and then argan oil. Did that happen to you too?

Hi Alissa! Yung ginagamit ko lang post-treatment is yung anti inflammatory cream na binili ko after my first session. Nung naubos na yun, di na ako nag repurchase kaya wala na akong nilalagay afterwards. sa experience ko hindi naman nakakaitim yung treatment; if anything nakatulong pa sha makawhiten (kahit onti) kasi no more reazor burns 🙂

I just finished my first session today and they also made me buy the anti inflammatory cream and cleanser. The axilight serum, powder serum and vitamin c were also suggested. I only bought the axilight serum for additional whitening care because what i first bought was the axilight laser treatment before the diode. I will be having the axilight two weeks from now because i cant have both treatments in one day to have whiter underarm 😊

hi teller! yun lang yung hindi ko sure.. kasi according to their instructions, the yearly boosters (or depending on the hair growth) are really needed kasi i don’t think this treatment prevents new hair follicles from growing. sa pagkakaintindi ko (pero baka mali)) maintenance na talaga yung booster appointments…so i haven’t touched any of my vouchers from my second promo package and i would like to say na average hair growth yung akin. i guess it all depends? personally kasi the waxing thing never works for me because i’m so lazy and impatient i almost always end up just shaving anyway…
Hi! It was my first time yesterday for the same treatment. It was a great experience from the staff being so nice and welcoming (SM MOA branch). Maybe it took me 20 minutes for my first session. It was not painful at all, however you will feel that tiny prick. They advised me to used their mild cleanser and the anti inflammatory cream. So excited to go back for my second session and of course hoping for a positive result. 🙂
