unravelling the thoughts of an emotional blockhead

i have been a bum for the past month, and if you’re wondering what kept me from socializing with the rest of the world, i guess it’s high time that i say a couple of things about me that some of you might not know.

1. i love, love, love musicals. not the high school type ones (duh) but i love the broadway types. turned into movies, of course, as i don’t think there’re any broadway acts in the philippines. just another one of those disincentives of living in a third world country, i guess.

of course, movie versions are nothing compared to the real thing.

case in point: rent the musical. sure, the movie was good, and putting most of the original cast in their original roles was a nice touch, but there was just something different with the energy that the stage provided. i succumbed to temptation and finally saw the cast’s performances on their 10th year anniversary celebration and even though i didn’t particularly like the mimi in the original cast, it still blew me away.

i have listened to the soundtrack almost everyday, five times a week at the least, and i’m still not quite tired of it. which brings me to the second thing.

2. i am a sucker for guys who sing. there’s just something about a boy who can hit a note that makes my heart flutter.

case in point: anthony rapp. *drool* he plays mark, the lonely film maker in rent. he’s a great actor and he really brought mark to life. i saw this year’s tony awards and this batch’s mark wasn’t so great. he’s not…mark enough, if you can call him that.

obviously, he can sing. lookie here if you don’t believe me.

unfortunately, anthony rapp is gay. which brings me to no.3.

3. apparently i have a thing for men who like men. i happen to be a very reliable gaydar to have around. in chenyl’s words, i never fail. if i am attracted to a man walking down the street, there is a 75% chance that he’s gay. or will be gay in a couple of years down the road.

so there. a little insight into how my messed up brain functions.
