The afternoon was sweltering and we had just finished a draining five-hour shift of smiling and passing around flyers under the sun. Of course we went out looking for something cold to stuff our faces in. We gathered what little strength we have and marched onto the Central Square, looking for the Baskin-Robins stand. Up and up and up and up we went until we found the huge stall…only to be disappointed by the line that seemed to go on and on around the whole floor.
We were tired, we were sweaty and I don’t think it was an option to stand in line for god knows how long and eat ice cream on our feet. So we continued on up in search of a place where we could actually *gasp* sit down and talk. Hallelujah, we found a near-empty Mad Mark’s (this happened a few weeks ago and I think they were still in their soft opening phase; I think they only offered ice cream them).
We grabbed a table and were immediately handed their ice cream menu. At 85PHP per scoop (plus service charge), it was by far the cheapest thing I’ve ever eaten in the BGC area.
C and I had a scoop each of the Strawberries and Cream. Unfortunately I can’t remember what the others had, LOL, but I remember our orders not being our first choices. I remember being intrigued by the Madagascar Vanilla Bean but it wasn’t available that day, boo.
Apparently Mad Mark’s Creamery and Good Eats initially made its mark as a hole-in-the-wall type of place somewhere in Kapitolyo and is mainly well known for its homemade ice cream. Well, the ice cream was good but I’ve had better. It wasn’t too sweet, which was probably the reason I didn’t like it that much.
Service was a little bit on the slow side as well, but I guess being in the soft opening phase, that bit’s a bit understandable. I’d probably go back to try their other food, but not for the ice cream.
