I never actually thought that I’d get a second chance of seeing Wicked staged in Manila. Luckily, it seems like somebody from the Solaire theater has a direct line to the London West End and is determined to bring over as many shows from to Manila as possible. This sounds like good news but with West Side Story and The Sound of Music running back to back in this August and September, it’ll be hell on my wallet, LOL. I guess folks got encouraged by Manila’s enthusiastic reception of last year’s Les Miserables?
Anyway, N, C and I caught last Thursday’s 8pm show and hooray, unlike last time, I wasn’t late! I finally got to see the first ten minutes of the show, LOL. We got better seats too (thanks, N! this solidifies your status as the official ticket buyer and seat chooser) even though I think I paid more for the 2013 show.
As usual, no review here – Wicked is Wicked and will always make me smile – and the only real comment that I have is that the UK cast has British accents. It was mainly unnoticeable EXCEPT for Dancing Through Life, which kind of jarring for me because ‘dance’ was pronounced a different way.
They still have shows running until Saturday, March 19th and if you’re interested you can get your tickets at the Wicked Ticketworld page.
