Today marked my first day back to work and nothing beats letting your mind wander about the year past while cleaning up your work inbox. Yes, I know that it’s a Thursday and it seems pointless to go to work for just two days but I need the holiday leaves for next week – eek, I’m going to go on a B-I-G adventure! Stay tuned.
Anyways, while I was reflecting about 2015, I realized that it wasn’t such a bad/horrible/not-so-good year. If anything, it was pretty great – I was able to follow most of the plan I set last January (except for the eternal promise to lose weight). I never thought I’d actually be one of those people to preach this: but guys, seriously, setting aside the time to plan ahead really does help. This time last year I was busy trying to work out a doable budget so I that I can resuscitate my dying savings fund and except for that big impulsive Australian <s>splurge</s> trip, I was able to inflate my savings back to a non-hyperventilatory stage.
Being on a budget didn’t mean that I just stayed cooped up at home, though. I still tried to make it a point to visit one new place, somewhere I’ve never been to before, at least once a month. Being on a somewhat tight budget meant that these locations definitely meant local destinations only, and definitely no flying involved. In hindsight, I guess the no fly thing worked out for me; have you seen the crazy traffic in Naia these days?
Here’s a rundown of the places I went to last year (most were done via random road trips):
January: Cintai by Corito’s Garden
February: 30 Hours in Baguio
March: Visita Iglesia 2015: A Solo Trip in Bataan
April: Titas of Manila in Talipanan, Puerto Galera
May: Daranak Falls
June: – (I remember this being the month of weekly overtime at work, so yeah, no trips for me)
July: Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar
August: – (this was the month of my nephew’s baptism)
September: Bangkong Kahoy Hidden Valley
October: Pinto Art Museum
November: Australia!!!
December: Baguio with the family
2015 was fun and I can’t wait for whatever 2016 has in store.
How was your 2015?
