unravelling the thoughts of an emotional blockhead

2017, Restaurants, Manila, Philippines, RED Kitchen + Bar, Filinvest, Alabang

Last week the ICU Figs and I held our annual Christmas get-together at RED Kitchen + Bar in Filinvest. It’s one of the “newer” restaurants in the Festival Mall vicinity; newer because it’s in the new-ish Riverside wing, even though it’s been there for a couple of years already.

RED Kitchen + Bar is actually one of my favorite places to eat at in Filinvest (assuming that I can be bothered to haul my bum all the way to the Riverside area) because the place is generally away from the rush of the mall crowd. Also, I find their food reasonably priced and delicious enough that I’ve been to the place three times already (that might not sound like a lot but I only go to the Festival mall to watch movies).

Triad Churrasco

Funnily enough though, I’ve always seemed to order the same things over and over again, LOL. I guess I just really like their Churrasco. I mean, how can you not? It comes in two sizes, a solo one where you get one type of meet or you can get the Triad Churrasco where you can get a skewer each of the beef, the chicken and the prawn. It comes with a side of sweet corn on the cob, a bed of rice pilaf, grilled vegetables and crispy smashed potatoes.

The Bagnet Caesar salad is also one of my go-to’s at this place because they have the crispiest Bagnet on this side of town and I get to kid myself that I’m eating something healthy.

Steak Carbonara

My companions usually order a pasta dish and when Ma’am A and I were there, we had the Steak Carbonarra. I remember liking this a lot because the steak was really well seasoned and they weren’t stingy with the meat strips.

The ICU Figs and I had the Vongole Pasta last week and I thought it was just all right. We didn’t get to take a photo because we were all lazy, LOL.

I’ve been lucky enough to try two deserts from their menu:

Churros

The Churros with a spicy chocolate dip although I don’t remember the chocolate dip being that spicy. I do remember liking the white chocolate dip a lot though.

The Apple Crostata A La Mode, a baked apple croissant tart with vanilla ices cream. I remember that my brother and I liked this one a lot because we were kind of fighting over the last bite, LOL.

The decorations are quite simple: they just stuck to dark wood and a whole lot of red accents. The restaurant is about the same size as the other restaurants on the Riverside wing but because they chose to go with the full sized chairs and high ceilings, the space actually feels a lot roomier.  Also they apparently have bands that perform during the evenings but the ICU Figs and I left the place before the band started playing so I’ve no idea if they’re any good.

I highly recommend the RED Kitchen + Bar to anybody who’s in the Filinvest area. Bonus perk: free parking for customers!2017, Restaurants, Manila, Philippines, RED Kitchen + Bar, Filinvest, Alabang
